1. 1960s: ARPANET
- Developed by the US Department of Defense through the ARPA project.
- Initial goal: communication between computers in a military network.
- In 1969: four universities in the US were connected in the first network.
2. 1970s–1980s: TCP/IP Protocol
- In 1983: TCP/IP became the standard for internet communication.
- Emergence of the domain name system (DNS) to simplify website addresses.
3. 1990s: World Wide Web (WWW)
- Introduced by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991.
- Enabled the use of browsers and hyperlinks.
